This is John’s car parked in front of his apartment building on Broderick at Golden Gate. John decided to take it out for a spin early this evening while shitfaced. He came flying by me on Fulton at the top of Alamo Square, somehow managing to fit his car between the one I was driving and the parked cars to my right by driving in the bike lane. There wasn’t enough room for him to fit by the car in front of me, so he swerved into oncoming traffic and barely missed disaster. He swerved back into the right lane, swiping two cars in the process. I followed the skid marks after I lost him from view, right onto Webster, right onto Grove, where I saw his car on the sidewalk and smoking. He managed to get off the sidewalk and turned right onto Steiner, then left at Fulton, back along the park. I lost him again, but kept driving, saw some cop cars, which quickly led me to his car where you see it here, right in front of his apartment building.
Some people who saw him pull up said they saw his car in this condition coming up the hill on Broderick, but then it stopped, unable to move any farther. So he kicked it in reverse and promptly switched back to drive to make it up the hill. He parked, and very nonchalantly got out of the car with a bottle of vodka, then sauntered into the building just before the cops arrived.
