Today, for work, I had the pleasure of meeting with a group of teenagers and young men who live in the Tenderloin. They were extremely intelligent, funny, goal-oriented, and inspiring. Yet another reason why this piece of shit article from Vice makes me angry.

I lived in the Tenderloin for 10 yrs. The Vice article seems pretty accurate. Why we think it’s a good idea to pack all of our most vulnerable fellow citizens into a dense urban environment and let them fight it out in badly managed hotels is beyond me.

I live in the TL-ish and I work with the severely mentally ill. I think that article paints a very honest picture of what it’s like to work in the trenches of poverty, mental illness, and drug addiction. I wish it wasn’t in Vice though.
