Matthew Africa, a DJ whose love of hip hop introduced amazing music to me and thousands of others died on Monday in a car crash. His wife, Ha Le, survived with what sounds like non-life-threatening injuries. I really didn’t know him all that well, but he was a good friend of many of my good friends. He was a really, really nice, down to earth guy. Really tragic news.
I first met him when we worked together on producing a DJ/rap performance night at the Rickshaw Stop a few years ago. He was super cool to work with even though I didn’t really know what I was doing. This makes me incredibly sad. Terrible.
